Save big on Black Friday: Why Walmart Plus is the membership you need
Save big on Black Friday with Walmart's membership program.
Recent updates
November 25, 11:30 AM ET: Walmart Plus is now 50% off ahead of Black Friday if you sign up for an annual plan. This piece has been updated to reflect the discount and the current best deals at Walmart.
Black Friday deals are better when you shop like an insider. Walmart Plus (Walmart+) members get early access to massive discounts, free delivery perks, and more. Right now, you can join Walmart+ for 50% off. Whether you buy products from one of Walmart's physical locations or its digital storefront, a Walmart+ subscription is definitely worth considering.
Black Friday is basically here. If I'm being technical, Black Friday doesn't happen until November 29, 2024 but retailers decided to kick things off early. With discounts aplenty, it's the perfect time to subscribe to Walmart+ and get your holiday shopping out of the way.
Walmart Plus benefits and cost
While subscriptions like My Best Buy memberships include multiple tiers for customers to choose from, Walmart+ only has one. Luckily, Walmart+ is 50% off right now, saving you $49/year.
Below, you'll find a full list of each and every benefit you'll get if you decide to sign up for Walmart+.
- Early access deals: 12-hour early access to deals
- Exclusive prices: Member-exclusive prices and product releases
- Free delivery: Free grocery deliveries
- Free shipping: Free shipping with no order minimum (Marketplace and freight excluded)
- Save on gas: Save 10¢/gallon at 14,000+ participating gas stations in the United States
- Stream for free: Paramount+ subscription for over 40,000 episodes, movies, and live sports
- Fix a flat: Free flat tire repair and road hazard warranty at Walmart Auto Care Centers
- Get cash: Get Walmart Cash from Expedia travel
- Returns from home: Walmart will pick up returned items from your home
- Pay easier: Pay in-store via a mobile phone scan
A Walmart+ membership costs $12.95/month or $98/year (more on annual memberships in a moment). If you'd like to sign up, head on over to Walmart's membership page. Note that there's a free 30-day trial you can take advantage of if you'd like to try the service out, though notably, you can't take advantage of member-exclusive deals and Black Friday early access if you're using a free trial.
If you currently have a free trial active and you'd like to skip it, all you have to do is pay for a full membership. Once you do, you'll get access to member-exclusive prices and deals.
Right now, you can get a year of Walmart+ for 50% off. That discount gets you all the perks and benefits of a membership but for only $49/year.
Another thing that's important to mention is that if you're currently receiving aid from government programs like SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, and others, you can subscribe to Walmart+ for 50% off through the Walmart+ Assist program. Those who qualify for this discount can get Walmart+ for just $6.47/month or $49/year.
Walmart Plus early access to deals
While all of the perks you get from Walmart+ are excellent, the ones that stand out the most are member-exclusive prices and 12 hours of early access to products and deals. For example, the HP Victus 15.6 gaming laptop with an NVIDIA RTX 4050 was available to Walmart+ members exclusively for $499. That deal sold out almost instantly since Walmart+ members had early access. The laptop is back on sale, but the discount isn't as large as what Walmart+ members saw earlier this month.
Those member-exclusive prices and early access deals include Black Friday deals, so if you plan to do lots of shopping during the holidays, a membership will likely be worth it in the long run. Even though a subscription will cost you, you'll save way more than what you'll pay for it with the discounts you'll have access to.
Walmart has a ton of excellent deals for Walmart+ members that you can check out on its exclusive deals page, with new markdowns always cycling in to replace expired ones. More and more hit the page with every passing day, so make sure you check back often to see what's on offer — especially during events like Black Friday.
If you want to save time and money through Walmart+, head over to Walmart's membership page. The 50% discount on a Walmart+ annual plan ends on December 2, 2024, so you have to act quickly.
✅ Great for...
- Busy families and individuals who shop at Walmart frequently and want to find the best Black Friday deals: Walmart+ can save you time and money with early access deals, free shipping, and free grocery deliveries, freeing you up to spend more time with friends and family over the holidays.
❌ Not ideal for...
- Anyone who does not live near a Walmart or shop online: Walmart+ is a valuable subscription for finding deals, grocery shopping, and more. But it's only worth it if will use it, which requires shopping online or going to a physical Walmart store.
